Follow The Directions

01

Step
15 mins

Bloom the Gelatin: In a small bowl, pour the lemon juice and sprinkle the gelatin evenly over the surface. Allow it to sit undisturbed for 15 minutes to soften. (Time: 15 minutes)

02

Step
7 mins

Infuse the Cream: In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, sugar, and 2 tablespoons of lemon zest. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture comes to a gentle simmer. Be careful not to boil. (Time: 5-7 minutes)

03

Step
3 mins

Dissolve and Combine: Once simmering, remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the bloomed gelatin mixture and whisk thoroughly until the gelatin is completely dissolved and the mixture is smooth. Stir in the orange liqueur. (Time: 2-3 minutes)

04

Step
5 mins

Strain and Portion: Strain the warm cream mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl. This will remove any undissolved gelatin or zest pieces, resulting in an exceptionally smooth panna cotta. Divide the strained mixture evenly among small glass bowls or ramekins. (Time: 5 minutes)

05

Step
4 hrs

Chill and Set: Gently place the uncovered panna cottas in the refrigerator. Allow them to chill for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to fully set. For optimal results, cover the bowls with plastic wrap after the initial chilling period to prevent a skin from forming. (Time: 4+ hours)

06

Step
2 mins

Garnish and Serve: Before serving, garnish each panna cotta with the remaining lemon zest. For an extra touch of elegance, consider adding a few fresh berries or a sprig of mint. Serve chilled and enjoy! (Time: 2 minutes)

For a richer flavor, use vanilla bean paste instead of orange liqueur.
If you don’t have orange liqueur, you can substitute with a teaspoon of vanilla extract or a splash of Limoncello.
Adjust the amount of sugar to your liking, depending on how sweet you prefer your dessert.
To easily unmold the panna cottas, dip the bottom of each ramekin briefly in warm water before inverting onto a plate.

The lemon flavor is perfect – not too overpowering, just a lovely subtle tang.
