Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). While the oven heats, bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a rapid boil. Add the egg noodles and cook for 7-9 minutes, or until al dente. Drain the noodles well. (Prep time: 2 minutes, Cook time: 9 minutes)

02

Step

In a large bowl, gently combine the cooked noodles, flaked tuna, sour cream, 1/4 cup of the milk, dry onion soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, seasoned salt, salt, and pepper. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. The mixture should be well-combined and flavorful. (Prep time: 5 minutes)

03

Step

Lightly grease a 2-quart casserole dish. Crush about 1/4 of the potato chips and spread them evenly across the bottom of the dish, pressing down gently to form a base layer. (Prep time: 3 minutes)

04

Step

Spread the tuna-noodle mixture evenly over the potato chip base. Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the tuna-noodle layer. Crush about 2/3 of the remaining potato chips and layer them over the mozzarella. Dot the top with half of the butter pieces, followed by the remaining crushed potato chips. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella over the top. Drizzle the remaining 1/4 cup of milk evenly over the casserole, then dot the remaining butter on the top. (Prep time: 8 minutes)

05

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the casserole is heated through, bubbly, and the cheese is melted and lightly golden brown. Let stand for 5-10 minutes before serving. (Bake time: 25 minutes, Rest time: 5 minutes)

For a richer flavor, try using tuna packed in olive oil. Drain well before using.
Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese. Cheddar or Gruyere would also be delicious.
If you prefer a softer potato chip topping, add the final layer of chips about halfway through the baking time.
To prevent the potato chips from burning, you can tent the casserole with foil during the last 10 minutes of baking.
This casserole can be assembled ahead of time and refrigerated for up to 24 hours. Add a few minutes to the baking time if baking from cold.
