Follow The Directions

01

Step

Position an oven rack approximately 3 inches from the broiler element and preheat the broiler. Lightly coat a broiler pan with cooking spray. (Prep time: 2 minutes)

02

Step

In a small bowl, thoroughly combine the brown sugar, horseradish, grated shallot, and black pepper until a homogenous mixture forms. (Prep time: 3 minutes)

03

Step

Arrange the filet mignon steaks on the prepared broiler pan. Generously spread half of the brown sugar-horseradish mixture evenly over the top surfaces of the steaks. (Prep time: 2 minutes)

04

Step

Broil in the preheated oven for 5 minutes. Carefully turn each steak, then spread the remaining brown sugar mixture evenly over the new top surfaces. Continue to broil until the steaks reach your desired degree of doneness, typically an additional 5 to 9 minutes. Use a meat thermometer to ensure accurate results. (Cook time: 10-14 minutes)

For optimal results, allow the steaks to rest at room temperature for 20-30 minutes before broiling. This ensures more even cooking.
Adjust the broiling time based on the thickness of your filets and your preferred level of doneness. A meat thermometer is highly recommended for accuracy.
If you don't have a broiler pan, a cast-iron skillet can be used as a substitute. Be careful, the handle gets hot!
Serve immediately with your favorite sides, such as roasted asparagus, mashed potatoes, or a simple green salad.
