Follow The Directions

01

Step

Gather all ingredients. (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a large bowl, whisk together the beaten egg, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, seafood seasoning, and hot pepper sauce. Stir in the finely chopped green onion and set aside. (5 minutes)

03

Step

In a medium bowl, gently break up the lump crabmeat with a fork, being careful not to shred it too finely. Add the milk, salt, and black pepper, tossing lightly to coat the crab. Add the crushed saltine crackers and baking powder, tossing gently to combine. Add the crab mixture to the egg mixture, gently stirring to combine without breaking apart the crab lumps. (10 minutes)

04

Step

Using a 1/3-cup measure, scoop the crab mixture and gently form into 8 equal-sized patties. Place the patties on a plate, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or up to 8 hours, to allow them to firm up. (1 hour to 8 hours)

05

Step

Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). (5 minutes)

06

Step

Lightly spray both sides of each crab cake with olive oil cooking spray. Carefully place the crab cakes in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overcrowded. You may need to cook them in batches. (5 minutes)

07

Step

Air fry the crab cakes for 5 minutes. Gently flip them over and continue cooking for another 5 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. (10 minutes)

08

Step

Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as a homemade aïoli or tartar sauce, and fresh lemon wedges.

For the best flavor and texture, use high-quality lump crabmeat.
Be gentle when mixing the crab mixture to avoid breaking up the lumps of crabmeat.
Chilling the crab cakes before cooking helps them hold their shape and prevents them from falling apart in the air fryer.
If you don't have an air fryer, you can bake these crab cakes in a preheated oven at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for about 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

My air fryer runs a little hot, so I reduced the cooking time by a couple of minutes. Keep an eye on them!
